Privacy notice

This notice explains what the SourByte Community stores about you. It adds to the general privacy policy of sourbyte.app.

What we store

Your display name, email address and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password), the reason you gave for joining, your posts, and the dates you joined and last logged in.

Why

To run your account, to decide on your join request, to show your posts to other members, and to email you about your account (confirmation, approval, password reset). We don’t send newsletters and we don’t share your data with anyone.

What others see

Other members see your display name and your posts. Your email address is only visible to the admins.

Security

To protect against abuse we briefly keep an irreversible, salted fingerprint of your IP address when you sign up, log in or post. It is deleted after 24 hours at the latest. We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in; no tracking, no analytics, no ads.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time on your account page. Your personal data is removed immediately. You choose whether your posts are deleted as well or stay in the discussion under “Former member”. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after seven days.
